Instructions:
- Prepare Your Ingredients:
- Measure the coarsely ground coffee. A typical ratio is 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee per serving, but you can adjust this based on your taste preferences.
- Assemble the Phin Pot:
- Disassemble the Phin pot by removing the filter press from the chamber.
- Place the desired amount of coarsely ground coffee into the chamber.
- Use the adjustable filter press to compress the coffee grounds gently. The level of compression can affect the brewing time and strength of the coffee.
- Boil Water:
- Heat water to just below boiling, around 200°F (93°C).
- Add Hot Water:
- Pour a small amount of hot water into the Phin pot, allowing the coffee grounds to bloom. Wait for about 20-30 seconds to let the coffee absorb the water.
- Begin Brewing:
- After the initial bloom, fill the chamber with hot water to the top.
- Place the filter press on top of the coffee grounds and water, ensuring a snug fit.
- Enjoy the Drip:
- The water will slowly drip through the coffee grounds, extracting the flavors. The entire brewing process may take 4-5 minutes. Be patient – the slow drip is key to the unique taste of Vietnamese coffee.
